GPH visits Georgia

A 4-day trip to Georgia was organized to better understand Georgia’s recent track record in implementing a regional development plan for the Kakheti region. As a neighboring country, Georgia offers valuable insight on implementing large-scale initiatives for tourism and historic preservation aimed at boosting economic development.

It was a productive trip, which helped to guide and prioritizes on higher level GPH’s analysis of tourism, historic preservation, and infrastructure development for Shirak region and Gyumri. Being located very close to the Georgian border, Gyumri plays a strategic role for tourism and economic development of the area.

During the framework of the trip, GPH’s director Lena Muradyan and the selected teams visited different Georgian cities to explore the implemented projects regarding tourism development and preservation of historic monuments. Different organizations were visited such as the World Bank in Georgia, the Ministry of Culture and Preservation Agency, Georgian National Tourism Administration and Explore Georgia Tour Agency.
